Toycarsmy selected as Best Toy Blogs by G4TV

G4TV, a site with latest news on video games, phones, trailers, technologies, and cheats has found Toycarsmy.com as one of the "Best Toys Blog" on their blogwatch dated on 6th Feb 2009.

How I know this is from our HWCM member, HWCustomizer who joined HWCM after the video. HWCustomizer, a US Hot Wheels collector specialize in customizing Hot Wheels joined the Malaysia community after found the link from the main blog.

The video splits into 2 portions, 1st is the action figures and Toy Cars is on later portion. The video did mentioned few elements of the blog, for instance featured car, custom or DIY and field report.

I received the email from Malay Mail Editor few days before the publish date (19th Jan).

The Interview was straight forward over the email, there was no personal meeting over the process. Is was a series of questions to answer, those you see bold in black were actually my questions from editor.

Last Page for 2008

It has been a habit for many of you read my posts on every 9:15 A.M. This has finally come to the end. Today as last page for 2008, let me wrap-up my progress for this year.

The Start
The blog started in 12th May, and I slowly progress and look for my direction. Still remember my interview with NST bloggers' say on mid of November, I were looking for monthly achievement of 10,000 page view, managed to hit that in a month later.

Toycarmy, a name came from no where has now viewed by 25,588 visitors from 118 countries. Of course we have Malaysia visitors interested the contents most, follow by U.S, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and UK.


Market Position
This means the key words positioning in the Google search results, it were my sweats and bloods, and it take time to sit in the #1 position. Results were mostly related Hot Wheels and Tomica from the collectors. Surprise many people looking for Tomica Malaysia price? Any ideas? As for now, still working on this to cover more key words that related to the hobby.



Going Forward
It did flash my mine to stop blogging, when I realize it took up much of my time on doing this. But after discussed with my wife, I decided to give it a try after settle down with my daughter. Thanks for the understanding.

It will be a transition period for me to work around on this, I hope it will be a better toycarsmy and more informative that you looking for. I can't answer by now how long it will take, I still have some pre-wrote posts in the schedule, enjoy it first. Bye for now, see you next year.

NotAboutToy: Hey Blogger What You Looking For??

This post is dedicated to upcoming, new and exiting blogger. Please skip this If you are already have successful in the field with over million hits so far.

Let me keep it short and simple, the following context, I would like to share my experience after blogging for 6 months, hope this will give you some clues how to move forward.

Run Blog like a business
If you intended to start a blog, or you already running one, I guess your intention is to make it popular.

This is a question you need to ask why there is existent of your blog. You blog need to have unique selling point and market position to be presented in this Internet space. You need to know your target market customers, what do they want actually.

You need to treat your blog like a product and readers as customers. As this I will translate your blog hits as your sales volume. You as the product sale person will responsible to shape your product fits to customers needs. Fail to do this, your blog will be just the other blog in the Internet.

Review Your Blog
Nothing will stay unchanged forever, you need to review whether there is any insufficient or improvement you can do to keep your readers excited.

If you following my blog since day one, it is not difficult to notice I reviewed and evolved myself regularly. I try to add more elements to increase involvement of readers to my blog, from ShareYourThought to GiveItAway recently.

Your Commitment
You need to commit to your readers If you really serious in this. Think twice if you do it just because others are doing it, it will just wasted your time if you decide to give up later.

Allocate or schedule time for blogging, sit back and think what you want to write. A good post will need not less than 45 minutes to complete. You may find difficult in the beginning, practice will make things better.

After been wrote for near 300 posts, I still allocate myself not less than 1 hour daily on blogging. From idea, pictures taking, editing to posting, each post I spend 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete.

Set A Target
To keep your momentum going forward, you need to set targets to achieve. Target can be number of hits of your visitors or money generates from your advert. It doesn't matter which type of targets, as long as it helps you moving forward, or in the word, self motivation.

Toycarsmy started since 12th May, my page view from as low as 100 weekly to now 7800 hits monthly. I set myself target a target 10,000 hits monthly, and I still preaching what I mentioned above to achieve target that I set.

Conclusion
Please don't just blog simply because others is blogging, you need to find yourself reasons why you blog. But once you started, you need to do it with full hearted.

Lastly, I may left out something as now is 1:15AM in the morning, you may say I'm not in the position to advice, but it is just my two cents.

Better Way to Showcase Collection?

The Pajero draw my attention when I was looking for car park in Subang Parade.

The owner is very creative on the way he or she display his collections. This give me the other ideas how to display mine collection in the future.

Singapore Formula 1 visitor pass

After much waiting, our F1 passes is finally here. I went to the Post Office last evening to collect the passes.

The passes came in a big white box. When you open up the big white box, there are two black packages (each about the size of a DVD cover).

In each of the black package there are 3 plastic passes with lanyard and a map of the race circuit.
Enclosed are some pictures of the package and the passes. Pictures do not look very nice because of the lighting and a bit of hand shake because I was about to go to bed.

Blogspot system down?

It seem blogger system was interrupted this morning when I uploading additional images for DC series.

From the announcement, blogger is under maintenance work for 10 minutes this morning. Blogger is under Google group should have world's class standard, but in the IT world there is nothing is "undownable" or in other word 100% up time.

Since Blogger services are given free to me, I think I can bear with it.

ToyCarsMy 5000 Hits

ToyCarsMy breaks its 1st 5,000th record today. Statistic capture from 11th May to 25th July 2008, total 5,072 pageviews have recorded.


Out of 2,561 visits, 71% visits are from Malaysia follow up by United States at 189 visits, Singapore 154 and Hong Kong 70 visits as major countries.


Most of the visits from Malaysia are from Telekom Malaysia, there are subscribers from Macro Lynx, Jaring and Maxis Communication in smaller quantity.

Noticeable, Mattel Asia Pacific Sourcing Limited has contributed 41 visits. 36 visits from GfK where GfK Asia Private Limited is a global research company based in Singapore specialist in retail and technology.

Google found ToyCarsMy blog mostly by “Tomica” keyword, which contributed 24% to traffic source.

More statistic to share when ToyCarsMy achieve 20,000 hits in the future. Cheers, YeoCP//

No. 100th Post

This is my number 100th post, but in back end my actual written posts are further that this number.

I spend almost one to one and half hours everyday to write posts. I work 5 days week, and my weekend time i spend for my family. Hence, all weekend posts are actually pre-schedule in advance.

After trained myself for slightly over 2 months, I already had my momentum to keep going forward. Thus, my next target to hit is 500th post. See you there. Cheers, YeoCP//

My Google Adsense

Have you notice my Google Ads gone missing between the posts?

While I still puzzle how could I bank in a foreign check from US, Google Adsense team had already put a solution for me, they disabled my Adsense account.

Reason claimed from Google is they detected invalid click activities on my blog, as this could happen from automated robot.

I did not do it personally, and I can't figure how this happened. I have appeal to Google, below as their reply. So, the answer is "that it".

Super GT 2008 Round 4 Sepang Race

These pictures from my colleague William during his commercial shoots at Malaysia Super GT race. Total of 25 Giga Bytes of pictures was taken with his Canon EOS 1D Mark III. Pictures were too huge to receive in email, so, I only managed to collect a few from him.

I stop following F1 after Michael quit from Ferrari. I may consider to jump into GT race after went through pictures with him. It is totally different concept from what I knew from Formula One. So, GT500 and GT300, I'm coming. YeoCP//

Full Moon Ceremony

Toycarmy is cerebrating full moon ceremony today.

After 30 days of blogging, I have gained quite a lot from my personal experiences. The gains not just on the increasing number of my statistics, but rather on how I could improve further for my personal development.

I also see more bloggers have joined to the bandwagon, the influenced is positive to encourage more people to share their ideas and knowledge to the society.

Toycarsmy Breaks its 1st 1000

This is my 1st 1,000 milestone to my blog slightly more than 2 weeks. It is really not easy to keep the it alive with interesting topics.

From the statistics collected from Google Analytics, people are more interested to know where to get limited and rare collections. For instance, my publishes on transformers Barricade and Hotwheels 3 won most of the clicks.

As for the geographical location, 80% of the visitors are from Malaysia, followed by 10% Singapore, 2% US, 2% Australia and 6% to rest of the countries. 58% of visitors are referral from Lowyat forum.

Lastly, I would say I'm still new in blogging, but this is not the resistant to stop me from continue posting things that I knew and I saw, in which I believed in sharing. So, Meet you again in 5,000 hits, cheers. YeoCP//
