The Untraceable Variation, Buick Grand National Revealers

From the earlier post, I have made the BGN (Buick Grand National) out of the blister.

The Revealers is extraordinary with the wheels variance, which not usually see in the team segment. (You can check)

Let's talk on the BGN, the engine revealing feature is cool. Without the hood, the modded chrome V6 3.8L engine can be clearly seen. While you just need a little harder to remove the cover. It is click on!

Vin Diesel going to drive one in the latest Fast and Furious movie, if you have the BGN black colour First Edition, it looked just the same. Unfortunately, I do not have. :( YeoCP//

Review: Hot Wheels Ferriari 430 Spider

The 430 Spider reveal again in 2009 Dream Garage, originally from 2006 First Edition.

This year, the 430 purely in black and white, no any other colours on it. Even though still sexy. YeoCP//

I Like:
Clean combination, black and pearl white, nice!

I Dislike:
Nope, nothing!!

Verdict:
The first unveil in pack of 3, still waiting for its single blister pack.

Ferrari 430 Spider

Review: Hot Wheels Color Shifters, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

The Evo X immediate became the most wanted model when it released in Color Shifters series. Moreover, each carton of colour shifters shipment contained only one of it at the present wave packaging.

We seem missed the 1st wave of the colour shifters, which contained the 1st colour of the Evo X - red. Don't worry the upcoming wave will have it included, just that, it is in the plain red without any tampo. Don't feel disappointing when you see that.

How Color Shifting works?
The shifter change to 2nd colour when the temperature climate changed to cold, return to its original colour when turned warm. YeoCP//

I Like:
Change colour, cool feature. Can use it as temperature meter, ha!

I Dislike:
It never returned to 1st colour in my office under the air conditioned, the Evo always in black colour, tampos went hidden :(

Verdict:
The 2nd variation Evo with Tampo looked so nice, will see red variance suit my taste later when it returned.

Review: The Vintage Casting, Splittin' Image

Second colour of the 2008 Hot Wheels Star Splittin' Image. The green colour variance has the better appearance, furthermore with the latest 09 packaging.

Read the earlier post if you missed the 1st colour story. YeoCP//

I like:
Real Classic casting, 1st debut in 1969 before I was born.

I Dislike:
Can't really comment on the down side, it was technology 40 years ago.

Verdict:
Investment value 2/5, although it's vintage casting, the reproductions did not give a good value.

Review: 2008 Lancer Evolution

We was once complained about the missing blue Evo in the 2008 First Edition. But the latest 7-Eleven promotion is flooded with it.

There are total 3 colours variation on the Evo casting, my pick still the blue one with OH5 wheels, nice isn't it? YeoCP//

I like:
One of my top picks in the 2008 First Edition.

I dislike:
Why the blue variant did not come with dark base? It should looks better with that.

Verdict:
What else to say, the Evo is favorite to many collectors, further more it is the first casting.

Review: '69 Chevelle SS 396

The '69 Chevelle SS 396 debut in the 2008 New Models, the casting name based on the actual production car.

Phil Riehlman designed the model, total 4 colours in the 2008 release. From here, I still missing the silver to complete the colour variation.

The Chevelle powered by v8 396 cid, delivers 375 Horsepower 0 to hundred in 6.5 second. It is pretty amazing for the muscle car in the late 60s.

And now, I kept it in the pack of 3 for my private collection, see it is the HWCM edition. YeoCP//

I like: Proper proportion to the actual car, nicely done all rounded.
I dislike: Should have the blue colour with racing stripe cut through the hood. Please consider this in the coming line-up!
Verdict: Many have passed this model, I think is understandable for Asian collectors.

Review: Hot Wheels Civic Si 2009

Quite a simple design for this year Civic Si released under Modified Rides. The whole model just flat grey with orange tampo.

The grey very close to metal colour, let me though it is zamac at first sight.

I Like:
- The flat grey looks stunning.

I Dislike:
- No detail, missing back light when we have it in previous release.

Verdict:
- Even that, still a hot cake because it is Honda.

Review: Hot Wheels Protector Pack by Rodapanas

Many fussy Hot Wheels collectors imported the Hot Wheels Kar Keepers from overseas to protect their cards from damaged. It is very pricey to time consuming to have it shipped from foreign countries.

Lucky we have a collector understand our need and produced a local made protector at affordable price, Foldabox, by Rodapanas.

The protected wrapped the card all rounded keep away the worry from being damaged. Besides, the allows the card to be displayed upright without any additional support.

If you have few more to showcase together, the protector capable to stack vertically and horizontally with some tricks apply on the leafs. It is a good method to showcase your teams series, the protector absolutely not problem to arrange for 2 x 2 for 2008 to 2 x 5 for 2009 series of 10 models.

At present, I have not seen any retail shop selling this brilliant product. I'm luck to got it from the producer himself.

Every Foldabox is selling in pack of 3 for RM10.00, more information is available at the official site if you interested to know more. Or you can join HWCM weekly to see and feel the actual item.

Verdict: Like I said, it is a good product should have it long time ago before we have to buy it from Ebay.

I Like: The stacking feature, it holds firmly became a giant showcase.

I Dislike: Should I say areas for improvement. Air seal, moisture will cause card to fade easier. Perhaps the later product will include this feature.

Review: Shell Ferrari 2009 430 Scuderia

My review on the Shell Ferrari 2009 430 Scuderia for my beginning of my 3 series Shell Ferrari collection.

The model packaged in the paper box with nice graphics front and back. The Ferrari in scale 1:38, which very much larger than the ordinary 3" Hot Wheels series we are collecting.

The Front

The Back
The Ferrari Official Hologram recognises the models as authorised by Ferrari.

In side the box contained a Shell Ferrari model and a instruction manual explains the control of the steering function.

The model is plastic for both it casting and base, with this it allows the Ferrari run very fast on its light weight body.

In term of detailing, the model are painted with reasonable details on the lights, emblems, and signature racing stripes. See the pictures below, every corners are well took cares.

430 Front

430 Back

The touch steering is operated by 2 LR44 batteries found under the model. The touch pad is where you control the direction of the car.

The pullback mechanical engine has a clip activate the commands you programmed to the model. Immediate it released, the steering will turn according to your intention after roughly 1 second delay.

The black and red colour cables connect power source to the controller board, 2 pairs of tiny wires attached into front controls the magnetic steering system left and right. The parallel springs will center the steering immediate the magnet released.

You can refer to the movie clip to see how the touch steering system operates, toward the end of the clip is a simple demonstration of the touch steering 430 Scuderia.

Verdict: It simply awesome on the technology breakthrough from the earlier series. The expectations for the next series will be definitely higher. Can't wait to see!!

I like: Fun on the touch steering system, affordable in term of price vs technology and quality. Of course, it is a Ferrari.

I dislike: Some confusion on the touch pad (left is right, right is left), it took me a while to get used to it. Missing the Vrooom vroom sound, isn't good have both?

Review: Hot Wheels Dragtor

This has been in the top 10 list of the most avoidable models. No one wanted it until have to let go by free.

It is created by Jun Imai into 2008 First Edition with 3 colours, Green, Red follow by White. Imai printed his name on the body (see the white line)"Imai Turbo 5150".

If you wonder who is Imai, he is the designer for Corvette C6R, Custom '77 Dodge Van, Subaru WRX and one of my favourite Toyota Corolla AE-86.

The diecast made by almost 85% of metal, except the exhaust and wheels, everything is metal. The engine cover is detachable, with that, you can see the hidden words engrave on the engine head "Hot Wheels Farm Co.", a joke from Imai?

If you also have this and not sure what you going to do with it? I will suggest you drill open the rivet and make use the engine and exhaust as the upgrade spare parts to your custom Hot Wheels, the Turbine will definitely give a boost to your modified one. ☺YeoCP//

Verdict: With the bad acceptance of the model, will it debut again in the future? I hope designers should have a discussion on this.
I like: When you see it without the blister pack, it is actually nice. I will fully "utilize" it in my coming custom.
I dislike: The detachable engine cover not "friendly" to my son, It actually mentioned on the card.

Review: Hot Wheels Pro Stock Firebird

Under Hot Wheels Racing Series this year have this Firebird made based on the real Pro Stock Racing. If you wonder what is that blue thing on the hood, it is actually the carburetor head to the engine.

Some background on the Pro Stock Racing.

Pro Stock Drag Racing is a class of drag racing featuring 'Factory Hot-Rods'. The class can be known as "all motor," as the cars cannot use artificial induction such as turbocharging, supercharging, or nitrous oxide, and there are very strict rules governing the modifications allowed to the engines, and the types of bodies used.

This makes for some incredibly tight racing; the front runners in the class can reach speeds over 200 mph (320 km/h) in 6.6 seconds (approx). The qualifications rounds are separated by less than a tenth of a second across all competitors. In a particularly tight qualifying roster, the difference from #1 to the final #16 qualifier may be only .05 seconds.

Verdict: Though Pro Stock Racing is kind of unfamiliar to us, but many have actually bought it for its unique design.

I Like: I can feel the speed from its shape, and it has a full metal base.

I Dislike: The red tinted glass, although it try to match the body, but real Pro Stock cars doesn't have it.

Review: Tomica #17 Nissan Cube

Haven't been review Tomica for long, I do this for those did not notice the Cube is here. I know there are many Cube fans in Malaysia. I bought this something ago when it just arrived at Litt Tak Hobby Shop. (I think quite a while back)

The little car was released by Tomica last year December 20th. It is a brand new casting under 2008 1st release. Still remember it were some leak pictures in the Tomica Flickr group with many colour variant. (Believed is for colour testing)

I would say this is quite a cute little car in its design, although it is small in size, but it actually solid when you hold it in hand. The front is quite plain, but you can see the Nissan logo clearly.

The attraction of the car is actually at the back. The where the unique signature of the Cube design, continues curve window to the side. Hah, of course the "cube" emblem at the bottom.

Verdict: I'm not a of Nissan but I can't deny it is cute! Custom it to pink will be sweet :)
I Like: Adorable shape and design, solid and heavy.
I Dislike: Lag of details, no feature other than suspension, lastly colour - cute car should come in lovely colour.

Review: Matchbox Austin Mini Van

There are a lot more nice models in 2009 line-up, and the Minis made it in the 1st batch in the new wave with the new packaging.

The Mini Van is one of the hit items besides the Civic Type R, the classic is my all time favorite.

Surprise me the Mini doesn't fit with the normal standard wheels but the disc wheels. This is not the usual type we see on the most Matchbox.

Don't fooled by the "Benz" word, it is not Mercedes but dummy tampo for Electrical Specialist.

Verdict: Mini, all time favorite collectible model.
I Like: It is my favorite.
I Dislike: Missing detail for back lights (can add myself), and the meaningless Benz tampo.
