Custom Volkswagen Beetle, Lovely!

A quick DIY on the VW Beetle from the currently wave, just added some lovely pictures from the Nail Decor stickers, the result looks like from decal paper.

The Nail Decor is the one use for ladies nail decoration, I find it very easy to apply and it is very cost effective (Less than RM2.00).

The steps to apply is simple,
1. Cut the shape out and remove the clear sheet.
2. Place the design face down on the surface and press firmly.
3. Wet the back with water and wait for 30 seconds.
4. Slide the back paper and let the design dry.

Still looking for nicer pictures for my upcoming DIY, as this is for nail decoration, don't expect to get racer stickers like HKS, Sparco and stuff.

Something you can try is the Tattoo stickers, it is from the same material, you should have more variety design to choose from. Have fun!

Water Slide Decal Paper Q&A

In fact in also new to this and I try to explain all I knew.

Type of Decal
I'm not sure what other usage for decal paper, but I'm using it for the modeling customization. It looked like the glossy paper we use for the photo printing. There are 2 type of water slide decal paper, inkjet and laser printer. Inkjet are more commonly use due to colour laser printer is still expensive. To protect the ink from dissolve in the water, you need to spay a layer a clear coat before you can start working on it.

Laser Decal
I'm not going too deep in to Inkjet decal because the one I'm using is laser decal. Same here, 2 type a decals for laser, clear and white. They are exist for different usage.

Clear Decal
Whole sheet is clear until you print out the colour on it. It is very easy to use because you do not need to cut it near to the designs. You will not see the edge very much after you applied to the model. Printer won't print out white, so you need the white decal paper to do it.

White Decal
In white colour, unless your model is white, you need to trim it as near as to the design, otherwise the excess is can be obviously seen.

Preparation
You need to waste few sheets before you can get it right. Each printer type is different for it print out quality and paper type. There is not standard guide to follow but try and error.

Decal Printing
Before you print on decal paper, try it on normal A4 paper to get the right colour and size. Avoid small portion printing because it going to waste your rest of the paper. Accumulate multiple designs and print all in one go.

Applying Decal
Cut the design out and dip in to water for 10~15 seconds. Slide the decal to the surface and adjust position by finger. Wipe the water gently and let dry for 24 hours.

Clear Coating
To protect the decal paper especially your decals are small. It tend to come out if it is not dry enough.

Where to get?
I think you only interested in this, you are lucky if you can find it locally. Most people I know get it from overseas.

They usually supply in pack of 50 to 100 sheets, including the shipment it will cost you less than RM10/sheet to get it in quantity of 100.

Verdict
Clear are easier to use, but you need small quantity of white sheet in case of anything. Group with few people to share the cost, or else you will never get started for your 1st decal. Trust me!

HWCM Edition

I received my decal papers last week for the purpose of the HWCM Bettlecup giveaway. Painting part has completed but the progress halted due to the decal paper arrangement.

The long waiting time drive me crazy, as soon as I received the decals, the logo printing begun. It is not that straight forward you can imaging, it involved a lot of calibration, try and error before you get the desire results. I will explain more in the later post.

The Pro Stock Firebird produced by white and clear decal and the yellow Camero solely on clear. The logo overlay the body colour does not have white to cover the HWC word, it turned out quite nice on overall.

I added minor detailing all rounded, it is finally with HWCM\Eight for my appreciation to the logo design. Hope you like it, cheers.

PS: Although it is simple for me to reproduce the same custom, but I will not redo any custom I made. Hence, every unit is unique and only 1 in the world.

Jusco MV Hot Wheels Promotion Free Cars

I can't imaging I actually have these in my collections, many collectors will just pass these, and this end up everywhere, every corners in the markets.

However these are given FOC during the Jusco Members' day buy 2 free 1 promotion, and the are only "cars" other than dragtors and helicopters.

Before I send it to my son for "stress test", I give them a 2nd chance for upgrade option. What I did were added some simple HWCM logos stickers and detailing on it. And the No.2 is my registered member number in the cummunity.

I would say the Qumbee turned up better and the 1933 Ford is acceptable after the upgrade package.

Without opened it, I will not realised the framing tampos on Qombee are nice and the Ford has the metallic paint. Maybe what people say is correct, "there are no lousy assortments but just not your cup of tea".

I need to learn how to appreciate each models because they are design for reasons. After this, I decided to keep for myself, sorry son will look something else for you. ☺YeoCP//

DIY: Simple Enhancement with Nail Polish

This idea strike my head when I saw my daughter playing with the nail polish. It works for our nail should also works for our toy cars. Why not do some experiment to find out the answer.

Bought some nail polish from ladies department store and CD markers. The colours I bought are silver and golden-ish brown, markers looked for the one with red and orange colours.

After few rounds of painting, and patient waiting, here is the outcome. A enhanced version Civic Si with coloured head lights and carbon bonnet and spoiler.

Do you love it too? Should try yourself, it's simple. ☺YeoCP//

Featured Car: Hot Wheels Ferrari FXX Yellow detailed edition

I'm just playing with my new marker bought from Litt Tak from Gundam modelling.

The pen head is very fine (I think is 1mm) allows me to fill up both front and back grill for extra detailing, and It has no problem to draw lines on the body work.

I also filled up the the chrome PR5 rims with the red rings and darken the spokes to make it looked like the Ferrari Racer FXX. My friend who also Hot Wheels collector think I have just changed the wheels again.

With the minor upgrades, the yellow car raised its quality near to Ferrari Racer. In actual, the 2008 FE is less than haft price of the Ferrari Racer, but you can't actually tells the differences. New collectors may think it is new colour variant if I insert it into Ferrari Racer's card.

For those have Yellow FXX, you should try out yours and experience the fun on it. I'm still looking for the silver colour pen to draw the Ferrari logo at the back. Scaled modelling collectors, any ideas where to get? ☺YeoCP//

Featured Car: Customized Hot Wheels Evo X by JDMike

Can you imaging this Lancer Evo X Rally is made from Hot Wheels 2008 First Edition?

This is one of the customized job by JDMike, one of the DCPH member. DCPH in full as Die Cast Philippines is biggest die cast collectors community in Philippines .

The whole customization job is done carefully with sourced parts from different die cast. For instance, the headlamp is from Tomica Celica Rally, and the water slide decals came from a 1:24scale Tamiya Evo 6 WRC New Zealand Rally kit.

Next, the Wheels came from a Newray 1:64 Lancer Evo7 tooned version, and antennas came from Tamiya kit. Lastly, the roof air vent was self-fabricated and painted in silver colour.

I found Mike is ultimate collector, his has gone beyond just collecting die cast, but customize his own liking. I find this is my next level, my aim to achieve. Cheers, YeoCP//
